First off...the daily update...Saigon is so close you can almost smell it.
Chances are you actually can. Certainly you could spell previous stop Phan Tiet from several Ks away - being as it is a major manufacturer of the ever-stinky fish sauce.
Anyway, the boys arrived safe and sound again today:
I received this short text from Adam:
"In Long Khanh tonight - 82km left to Saigon. Going to Bien Hoa tomorrow. Hard day with strong, hard winds, 65km total. Marty on the mend."
I had a quick chat with Marty too. He admitted that Adam had repaid the favour fromwhen Marty did the lion's share of the pedaling when Adam's tummy was unsettled. This time it was Adam taking the strain. Marty's stomach is apparently literally "up and down".
Big news is that Thursday will be Saigon-Day. Keep checking back for the where and the when. Expect parades, screaming young girls and weeping grannies - okay, maybe - but we can promise balloons and maybe even streamers - if the budget will stretch that far.
I'm struggling with technology again tonight unfortunately. I'm ahead of the guys in swinging Saigon and was hoping to post the fantastic pictures that were taken yesterday but it's not to be. Damn computers.
Anyway, I'll be working hard to get them posted soon. Our photographer and all round good guy Philip Meaney has some amazing shots. Tomorrow...I hope so. Philip also joined me on a karaoke night out with the KOTO kids last night. Trust me - he does a mean "I'm too sexy".
Oh and watch out for the "cyclo surfing" shots. Cyclo surfing could catch on.
Possibly.
Cheers
Steve
You guys brought out smile and tears at once. I am so very moved by what you are doing for the kids of Vietnam. Here I am, a Vietnamese and unable to do anything remotely meaningful for them. Thank you guys. Keep posting and keep the pictures coming too. Thanks again.
